Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000
By AyCee Fri Oct 23, 2009 12:45 am
So I did some research online, read some blogs, and watched some youtube tutorials and I just can't seem to figure it out. I am trying to sequence sounds from the Motif XS6 to my MPC2000XL. I would like to play the keys on the Motif and have it play back on the MPC2000XL.

Here is my current set up:

Midi In (1) from MPC to Midi Out on Motif
Midi Out (A) from MPC to Midi In on Motif
The Midi Sync on the Motif XS6 is set to "Midi" and not "Internal"
The MPC is set to "Midi:1A-Device 01"

What am I doing wrong? I know this will take less than a minute to set up, but I can't seem to figure it out!

I'm sure tons of people have asked this question. I tried reading the blogs and watching some videos, but it's just too confusing because the post or the video is using a different MPC or a Motif model.

Please help!

[quote="j rhodes"]did u rtm on recording midi???

What do you mean? The Motif and the MPC is set to Midi, which I believe is in the proper device.

I'm pretty new to producing, and very new to midi.

Are you able to provide me with step-by-step instructions?

first thing im gonna say is learn one machine before the other... since u mention being new, im also gonna mention that there is a search function that will more than fulfill your needs....

if u have both units set to "midi" then they will cancel out... read your manual on pages 51 to 55... b4 i go any further... u do have a keyboard right or is it really a rack???
