Tap Tempo button useless??

I recently tried to find the bpm of a track I wanted to remix using the tap tempo button, but every press would literally differ by like 5 or more beats (88.1, 95.3, 86.7...)- my rhythm isn't that off! honestly, it's never worked for me. is it just my machine, or is Tap Tempo just generally useless?

yeah if you really focus on it you can get yourself more in time/consistent. also, it has to do with the way it averages the taps. it's not a running average of all your taps, if i remember it's only two or three taps(and you may be able to vary that amount i can't remember)

it can be adjusted in the misc page... i think it's shift+8 or something. you can change it from 2 to 4 taps... which works much easier.

Use more taps to average out a more accurate tempo. Two taps suck (IMO), and will be quite random.

knowing that it's not a running count of all my taps makes a lot more sense. I'll keep that in mind next time

To each is own I guess? I have never gotten an accurate BPM with 2 taps, I prefer 4

I know its just my poor tapping technique so i rarely use it... might see if mine is set to 2 or 4... that may help me.
