Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000

Hi! I'm new to this. I just bought the MPC 2000xl MCD OS 1.20 from a guy, I don't have a manual.

I bought a Sandisk Ultra II 2GB and I formatted it on my PC(windows XP) to FAT32, put some wav sounds on it and put it in the mpc, booted the MPC, shift load, it says ATAPI and type:??????, pressed format and it says my Compact Flash is 2GB so it recognizes it, pressed DO IT and i get the messege 0000:D29C.

Do the error messege have anything to do with the size of my Compact Flash? Do i have to get a 1GB or less Compact Flash? Or can I do something else to get it working?

Please help /Joniz

Yeah but I heard you cannot partition with OS 1.20, or can you?

I tried to format it on the mpc with nothing on the CF card and the error messege appears again..

The first thing I did when I got the CF card was to drag files to it and format it on my pc to FAT32, does that mean I ruined my chance to format it with the MPC for ever or what?

Yeah I'm having a headache of a time trying to find a good deal on CF cards for my 2000XL. Currently using a 2GB Sandisk card and it works fine....but have run out of space. So bought one off of amazon [Kingston 4GB $12.99 flower on front] that won't work, and bought another one today from Target [Lexar] for $30 that won't work either!

I'm running OS 1.2 [yeah old] so I guess I'm just going to have to get the Sandisk 4GB and I'll post if it works or not. Not sure if it will solve anyone else's problem, but at least it will add to the directory of what works and what doesn't.

i have done it this way and it works great:

- format the card on the pc using FAT (no FAT32)
- put samples on it
- put the card in the mpc
- hit shift+load and everything should be fine...

this error with a lot of infos added from many diff users made me think that maybe because of the capacity of the card drive. for example, a card reader says that we can insert a 4gb compact card, but its acutally can only read 3.7 or 3.78. But the capacity of a compact card is 3.8 or 3.81.

Im new to the 2kxl but this is just my though.
