hey, i searched and searched to find information on setting these two up to work with each other. what i want to do is really simple. use the mpc to trigger sounds on the sp. i've read both manuals, tried many various things, but nothing seems to work. i've restarted the sp so that it's on midi channel 1, changed all the midi out settings on the mpc, made sure the device was correct for the track, made sure the cable was plugged into the right slot, etc, etc, etc. if someone could just point out what i might be doing wrong here or take it through step by step so i can figure this out?
thanks,
wake

I don't remember how I set that up. That setup will work though. I'll tell you the steps as soon as I remember what I did.

Pretty sure I set it up using the 'Using the Note Messages from the Rhythm Machine to Play the SP-303's Samples' example in the sp303 manual(pg. 57). Still don't really remember, but it looks like it should work. If not just try all those examples out cause that's all I did when I was trying to find one that worked  .

man, dont wanna bash you but you need to look at the SP303 manual more carefully dawg.

you gotta change the midi notes on the MPC's pads as well. since the SP303's pads are not in chromatic order, you need to assign the pads on your MPC to the right note numbers of the pads on the SP303 to trigger it.

I dont have the SP303, but i have the SP404, on my SP404, the midi note #s for pad 1 through 12 are 47-58. So i just set up the midi note for MPC pads starting from 47.

hope that helps.

hi!

i know this aint the right answer for your question but, i wouldnt sync the mpc with the sp..
i would sample the sounds you want to play in the mpc.. you have less latency triggering audiosamples direct from the mpc than with midi from the sp.. especialy with drumsounds having no latency is very important to me..
but it should be no problem to sync this two machines, check if the midi-wiring is right, which of the two machines are master (mpc) and slave (sp) in the midimenus and then choose the right midichannel.. i hope i wrote this halfway undastandable, my english is a little rusty :)

peace!
