zip drive loud on start up

Just got a 2000xl and after powering it up, the zip drive is loud. Like a constant hum/whine-spinning. Everything works fine and after a few mins it stops(made a sudden stop/click noise).

After it stops everything continues to work, but wasn't sure if its suppose to be kinda loud?

Last time I used a zip drive was ummmm...
