rec/volume knob section bent?

Finally took apart my 2000XL and noticed the rec/volume knob section seems bent from the previous owner. I cant find any other pictures on the net from that area. Can someone confirm if its suppose to sit like that and maybe it was just the case not seated properly.



If not, I wouldn't mind bending up the steel piece, but dont want to break anything in the process.

Are the knobs in 90 degrees angle when compared to the top cover surface? If so, then steel plate is meant to be in that angle.

If not, but if potentiometers are turning smoothly and you can't feel or hear anything "serious", leave it alone.
There is probability that tool slips and you have more damage.
If you are selling unit and knobs seems to be out of line, then you may do some make-up for better profit. Still there is possibility of damage.

Yeah they just sit at an angle, no problems with the unit though.. All cosmetic. Not gonna even bother with it.
