now am i stright and the cable i need is a 50 pin to 50 pin male correct?

also if i purchase an adaptetc 2906 SCSI card for my PC can i use the first drive at top?

To buy a drive that small dont seem like a good look to me....Maybe u should have just bought a 2gb Jaz drive...At least that way, you can save 2GB a time via disks....Or better still go bigger. At least 9-18GB (That will set u up for a minute)

With that 2GB, your already limited....What you gonna do when you fill that...Your gonna have to back up on to CD's etc then erase...Then ....

As for the connection....Check what pin the Connection on the S2000 will use (Thats what its for right?) I know the MPC needs 50-25Pin....Not sure what connection the SCSI card you talk of will need. Better do your research

what i do binger is i swap my files quite regular- i think the mpc can only recognise the first 700MB of a hard drive (some one please correct me if im wrong!) so i have my LaCIE maxed out- one folder for samples one for tunes.....

when i need more space or different sample sets i connect the LaCIE to my pc....via and adaptec scsi interface.....make a back up of the hard drive and then free up space for new samples....and i can always go back and retrieve old stuff if need be...i you think your not gonna be doing over 15 songs at once i think the hard drive will suit....howeever if you want an all-in-one (ie no need for swaps) you need something like a big zip drive.....

im happy with my LaCIE..dont feel i need a zip....if i had my cd-rom back off my mate i would be able to make disk images instead of backing p to the pc..that way i could parallel the hard drive and cd reader together and be able to acces all my samples/songs old and new....

MPC can read/recognise over 20Gb....You just need to partition the drive and carefully arrange your files and folders to ensure smooth data searches. Its always good to buy bigger than u need at the time....That way you can grow into it....Your sample library will grow grow and grow over time

If anything, you could just buy 1 big SCSI drive for your PC dedicated to samples & songs etc....SCSI it up to the S2000 then trigger it via the MPC then save SEQs etc to zips (Your MP has a zip right)

yeah i was gonna use the 2 gb drive for just saved songs and my drums. I read on tutors page that the mpc can only recoginze 4.5 gigs. I wish i knew that they could higher than that. I will be usin my computers hard drive and milleinum (better the MESA) to SCSI import/export to the s2000 by means of the Adaptec 2906 card. I got a 25 to 50 pin cable for the s2000 and the adaptec. I am still waitin for em to get here. I also copped that harddrive at top for the 2kxl. I think i will use the 80 pin harddrive for sample/song storage on the PC. I can SCSI more than one device from the adaptec card right? i want it to go to there and the s2000. I have room to bounce around files so the 2gigs should be fine for me. Thanks for all the help

THERE WILL ONLY BE ONE CONNECTION ON THE Adaptec (bloody caps!) but there should be two ports on the hard drive meaning you can parallel it all up..

when i had my s2000 i had connected to both mesa and an ext hard drive...so it should work fine....

okay so go paraell from my computer wit the 80 pin right? The adaptec is SCSI to the s2000 and then the PC will be paralled to the 80 pin hardrive. Okay. Can I buy a parallel to 80scis cable to convert? I wasnt even plannin on usin this 80 pinned piec of s**t but im stuck wit it now. only 10 bills though so i'll eat it. I just want to use it for somethin.

depends on what the drive has on the back id use the hard drive as the central pice and connect both the mpc and the pc to the back of the hard drive....if everything is on the right channels you should be able to move samples between the three with ease....i know nothing about pins or converters as i was lucky enough to get the right leads first time....

Okay another quest. What kind of SCSI cable does the s2000 need to goto the PC's scis card. Scsi for samplers sent me a db25 to db25 male cable

When you're talking about midi data for programs and sequences, 2 gigs is alot, and if you're mostly sampling in mono, as you should be, there is plenty of room on two gigs. Trust me.

yeah the nly reason i fill my hard drive is with samples.....in total my tunes take up v little space its all the big mulit sets i use which eat the mem...
