Hello everyone and thank you for taking the time to read my post. This is my first post and I don't want to waste anyone's time so I'll try and get right to it. My question/problem:
My MPC2000xl doesn't receive midi data from my keyboard
Now, I'll answer all the questions that I think you're going to ask to make this clearer.
1. YES, I have everything hooked up right (or so I believe)
Midi out A: ------> Korg Trinity midi in (the midi thru port then goes to the in port of my roland JV1080)
Midi out B: ------> PC midi in (runs reason and fruity loops)
Midi in 1: <-------back from Korg trinity
Midi in 2: <------- input from my Digi001 for sync purposes when tracking
2. checked the wires, they're fine
3. I can get sound triggered from the KEYBOARD when I press pads on the MPC. HOWEVER, I can't get those same sounds to trigger when I play keys on the keyboard
4. In step edit mode, the mpc will only take notes if they're pressed on the pads. Anything played on the keyboard isn't "heard" by the mpc and therefore won't show up on the screen.
5. Global control on the keyboard is off
6. Data changed on the mpc will change data on the keyboard, for example, if i change the program, it'll change on the screen of the keyboard, so I know it's not the ports.
7. During play, it still triggers the keyboard and all sounds like it should. I just can't "audition" melodies or sounds from the synthesizer during play or record, but I can trigger them from the MPC's pads.
This all just happened today, I don't know what exactly happened, but I've been using my MPC for years now and this is the first time I've run into this. I think it's some setting or something on the MPC but I don't know for sure. Everything looks fine, there are no hiccups or any lines on the screen or anything, it just "decided" to do this today. I'd appreciate any help, it's probably something simple, but like i said, I've never run into this before so don't know how to fix it.
