Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000

Ok, I had a look in the manual and I suspect that this isn't possible but can you alter the sample start time with the pads. The technique seems to be used by the Ableton cats a lot, load a sample and have the start time of it changed with the pads. I know you could split a sample into 16 beats across the pads but I'd like the sample to finish playing at the end of the chops.

Does that make sense?

You can search the forum for "chopping on the 2000 classic" and use this method but its mucht too coarse to use it for drumbreaks etc.

Aaah, that looks like it might work like I want to. Can't tell exactly from the youtube vid in the topic you mentioned but I'll give it a try.

Thanks!
