mpc pad is dead

i opened my mpc a while ago and today i found out the pad on the right buttom doesn't work anymore. i tried to clean the contacts on the pad sensor but i saw there's a litte scratch on a contact thats going into the board of the mpc. so is it possible to fix little scratches on the pad sensor or should i buy a new one?

If the "scratch" has cut the trace, it is possible to fix the pad sensor same way you fix a broken PCB trace -- either with copper tape or bridging the gap with either wire, solder or both.

However, it's not very practical to do so as using the pads may dislodge the repair work.
