MPC2000xl, Turntable & Mixer (Correct Connections)

Can anyone advise on the correct set up for MPC2000XL(i dont have the 8 outs), Turntable & Mackie 16 ch track mixer?

I wanna have track 1 for my keyboard sounds, Track 2 for the MPC Drums, Tarck 3 should be for turntable sampling no?

im a little lost on the connection between Turntable, Mixer & MPC..

Rite now i have my turntable directly into my MPC and MPC to mixer and i dont feel thats totally rite.. shouldn't turntable be on a separate track?

I'm also uncertain about the levels my Rec Gain & Main Volume should be on my MPC when sampling... Sorry guys

If you don't have the 8 outs, you will only be able to get a single stereo track. So turntable -> to mpc -> to mixer. And if you're sampling into the mpc then you don't need an extra track for the TT, unless you plan on scratching

thank you for replying.. so basically my connection will be:

Keyboard to Track 1 on Mixer

MPC (Drums) to Track 2 on Mixer

TT to MPC (TT samples) to Track 2 on Mixer as well? (i def need to get that 8 expansion board!)

Finally when sampling from TT into MPC @ what levels should my Rec Gain - Main Volume knobs be?

Jean do you want to sample from the TT, or play it through the main mix? or both?

you probably want to put the tt to the mixer to boost up that phono then to the mpc. i think turntable straight to mpc will be a little too low

Maybe I am not up the entire situation. You need a turntable preamp/mixer after the turntable and before the MPC or mixer (whichever configuration you go with).

Turntable mixer and the Mackie mixer need to co-exist.

I do not have 8 outs and Im trying to get my connections straight when I get all the cables...but I thought the turntable plugs into the Dj Mixer and the Mpc plugs into the Dj Mixer is this correct?Doesn't everything go into the mixer?

(except when I get studio monitors which go into the stereo outs of course)

Yes the TT does plug into the dj mixer, which goes to the mpc. But he's talking about a 16 track mixer, not a dj mixer. At least I don't think he is

He is trying to set up his mackie mixer correctly with his turntable and mpc basically that was the same question I was asking but I will be using a 2 channel dj mixer instead of the 16 channel mackie mixer.

well ive gotten the connections to work... i just want to kno if my set up is the best and correct connection for sample production and such...(or am i limited to this connection due to lack of 8 outs?)

ive got my keyboard sounds going into my mackie 16 channel mixer track 1, mpc going into my mixer track 2 for the Drums, and the TT into my mpc which essentailly is on the same track as the drums so i dont have to much control there do i? .. aside from getting the 8 outs... what do you guys think so far?

***ALSO at wat positions should my Rec/Gain - Main Volume knobs be when sampling by TT for optimum sampling?

hahaha dude you are over thinking it and confusing tons of ppl... your TT will play thru your mpc when in record mode if you want it to play independently from your mpc try plugging it into an AUX input on your mixer and the AUX out to the record in of the mpc thats how i used to do it.. the AUX is usually controlable on/off by a push button and can be routed to a main or sub/control room mix so when you want sound from the TT you switch on the AUX input and have volume control of your TT to your speakers as well as audio input into the mpc and not two signals blaring at once.. you may or may not have AUX input into your mixer though just some info..

honestly i dont see a reason to have the turntable into a designated mixer chanel unless its for scratching/recording purposes if your sampling then sample straight into the mpc..

as far as record gain use your noggin dude!! if the sample is quiet i.e your volume isnt jumping near the top of the meter then turn it up!! if its solid black and blaring off the charts turn it down!! lol and volume? lol let your ears tell you when to turn it up or down just dont blow your speakers haha generally though i record my drums a little loud samples softer but thats also just how i mix too i like my drums to be smacking also if you cant seem to get your drums loud enough go into the trim window go to parameters and turn the sample volume up to 200 from 100..

oh i forgot too the 8 outs will only let you track internal sounds individually like as in the 8 outs from the mpc to the 8 ins on your mixer to record 8 individual tracks i.e kick, hats, snare, sample, bass etc. and adjust them seperately as far as the connection your looking for the 8 out board is irrelevant...
