Dead pad on 2000xl

The pad in the right bottom corner suddenly went dead. Before I order the pad sensors, I want to make sure there's nothing I can do. I took out the ribbon cable, cleaned it, put it back again. I tried banging on "black" sensor under the rubber pads - absolutely no response. I tried removing the pad sensors from the corner where the dead pad is, and then I put it back. Nothing. Anything else I could try?

Thanks for the link. Unfortunately the dude with the problem seems to be long gone, so I can't ask him how it turned out for him. Maybe it's just worn out though. I've had my MPC for about 8 years and pad #4 does receive a lot of pummeling being the "root" note of 16 levels to boot. Still, any suggestions are more than welcome before I order the sensors.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news but I've tried everything in the book. It only gets worse from here... First you lose one pad and you think that with some fiddling you can get it back. Then a second pad goes out... then an entire row, and then before you know it, you only have 3 working pads.

I worked like that for a couple of weeks before my floppy drive sh*t out too... but I had an external midi controller that was actually working quite nicely. A midi controller would be the only workaround I can think of...

My advice to you is to just get new pad sensors. It's expensive, but there's not really a way around it. Sorry. On the upside, once you get the new pads (I got mine from mpcstuff.com), it's a really easy install and no more dead pad.

Yeah, I'm sure you're right. I gotta look at the bright side, it could be the screen breaking (knocking on wood).
