I know this is already in here, but couldn't find it w/ search.
Can anyone answer my CD-ROM questions?

1) Will a 12X work w/ my XL?
2) How do I make Akai CD-ROMS to load w/ XLs? is it MPCprgm maker on my mac, or do I just slide contents of a ZIP into toast and burn it out the computer?

Any other info on this would be appreciated. Thanx yall.

dont know about speeds but I just typed "External SCSI CD Rom" into ebay and bought one for about two quid! Then I bought a SCSI lead and

Now i just burn stuff as a data disc using easy cd creater and voila the MPC read them (as long as they ar wavs au files etc)

The only thing I was wondering is if you can burn discs with folders - Will the etc recognise folders???

Yes 12 speed external scsi cdrom will normally work fine with a 2000xl. As for the format of your cd's. The xl reads standard format cdroms and recognizes folders. I make my kit programs with programmaker and export them to different folders and then burn those folders on a cdrom. Make sure to respect the name convetions for files and folders and double check via a zip drive b4 burning the dirs to a cdrom. You will feel kinda stupid I your cdrom can'r read any of the programs and or folders you compiled on the cdrom :D

So, Pt3r, just to clarify...can I just take the XL file, say a folder that contains a bunch of .pgm files w/ parameters, etc. Save to ZIP, throw it in my mac, and drag that data to Toast or whatever and burn it strait up? Then these programs will load from CD-ROM plugged into an XL?

I dunno about Mac, but the procedure you described there works for me on my laptop. Most of the times I Put 2 zipdisks (250Mb) on one cdrom (you have the space so why not use it :-))
