I've searched though the forum for people with "Insert MPC 2000 System Disk!" problems and just wanted to share a tip that I found about making your own MPC 2000 OS v1.72 system disk:
ENABLE THE 'WRITE PROTECT' TAB ON YOUR FLOPPY.
I bought an "as-is" MPC on ebay just for the 8 outs and fx card that was in it for my 2kxl, and figured I could fix and flip the 2k. I replaced the floppy drive and after a lot of trouble shooting it came down to the little plastic sliding tab on the floppy after i unzipped the files on it.
Now no problems and I have a beefed up xl and a fully functional 2k.
Hope this helps some cats having issues with their ebay bought MPC 2000s.
