Either my zip drive or my mpc is being a dick. Please help.

So, i just got a zip drive to use with my mpc 2000 classic. Im not completely sure how to use it at all yet, but i connected it tightly while everything was turned off, and im assuming to access it, you go into disk mode, devices, and scroll over.

The problem im having is that whenever i scroll over in devices, it brings up a screen that says "waiting......" and then freezes.

Now, as i stated before, i have no idea what im doing here, So..... Is this even close to how im supposed to be doing this or is it supposed to just take a really rediculously long time to load? Is something broken?

I tried using the search, and i only found one on this specific problem, and it didnt say anything about how to fix it

try putting a disk inside your drive. if you have no disk in there your MPC will keep telling you "scsi not ready"

shift +3 (load)
device - SCSI - 5

scsi 5 on the back of your zip drive should selected. (look at fung's pic above)
highlight where a file would pop up and scroll to the right and you akai should recognize your zip...

this is all for mpc2000XL so, might be a little different
