Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000

Recenetly installed a cf card drive on my 2000xl. I formatted the card in the mpc but now when i have the cf card connected to my computer via the card reader my computer doesnt recognize the card. What am i supposed to do now...this is really frustrating.

I have the same problem with mine. I am assuming you have a PC with probably Vista installed (my searching online has indicated that Vista has the most problems in this area).

I was never able to resolve the issue on my computer unfortunately and I searched extensively for a fix. One thing to note is that even if your computer can read the card you can only access the A partition that your MPC creates.

I finally ended up having to burn my drum hits to a CD and take my card and card reader to a friend's house with a mac and his computer read the card just fine and I loaded my hits from the CD onto the A partition on the CF card. So I keep all my drums on partition A and then keep projects in separate folders on partition B (until that fills up and I will move to C, D, etc..)

Sorry I can't offer you a better solution but if you can get to a mac you'll be just fine. It's not your card it's windows.

Thanks for the input guys. I have 2 card readers and neither if them worked with the card, but i ended up just using a new card i bought and that works fine, i didnt format it at all. The computer i was using the card with is a pc with vista but i do have a mac also, guess i should try that.

Correct me if I'm wrong but aren't you going to have to format the card on your MPC anyway unless it's rather small?

You have to format the CF card on your computer to FAT. If you format it on the MPC, your comp will not recognize it. The MPC should recognize FAT, but it will not recognize FAT32, which is the default for CF cards. Give that a shot and lemmie know if it works.
