Hey everyone, new here. I've been producing music for about 6 years now...only I used an RS7000. While I love the RS7k, I've gotten rather bored with it and I've always hated the sequencer and sampler on it. I almost bought a 2kxl, back in 2004, but opted for the RS7k because it had a synthesizer on it.
Well, I got a 2000XL for free, so I couldn't pass it up. And I've always loved the sequencer and workflow on an MPC, so I figure its time for me give this a go. Probably the majority of hip-hop I love was probably made on the mpc's so I figure I should be able to make some really NASTY beats on this thing.
I got it for free, however it had nothing special about it, no 8 outs...fx board...still has a floppy...and that brings me to my dilemma. I HATED the load times on floppy's 20 years ago, in this age of flash drives I can't fathom even trying to function with a friggin' floppy, if for nothing else, the limited storage space it offers.
So I've looked into several different storage options, but dunno the ups or downs of any of them. Zips, scsi (internal and external), cf/mcd reader, cd-roms, etc. WHICH, option offers the best advantages and most flexibility??? I'm leaning towards the CF reader, but the internal scsi sounds tempting as well. Really I just want the most space possible, fastest load times, and the least cumbersome...IE, no external power source, doesn't take up space on my desk, no ridiculous loading or saving procedures, etc
What would you guys recommend...I see certain OSes only work with certain types of media. I tried searching, and I read a few of the stickies, but I couldn't find one definitive answer, so I figured I would make a thread, and introduce myself to everyone. 'Preciate all the help and answers in advance.
Thanx,
TMQ
