strange problems with stereo outs????

hello pad bashers....
i was wondering if anyone in the place could help me out with something thats been leaving me confused for a while.

i have my 2000xl (with 8 outs) connected to a behringer 1002b mixing desk. it is connected via the stereo outs of my mpc (not the 8out) into a left and right on a channel in the 1002b with MONO cables....the funny thing thats going on is this, whilst playing a sample if i unplug a left or right connection from the mpc end the sound on the mixer corresponds, for example i pull out the left wire and only the left side will play and vice versa. however if i unplug the right wire from the mixing desk the sound will still play through both monitors when only the left wire is connected.?!??!...this only happens with the left wire so if i unplug the left wire the right cable will only play through the right monitor like it should......man its confusing, i dont know if it is a dodgy connection? mono sample? bad wires or whatt...(i make my own wires up, could that have something to do with it?)....

ummm the monitors are connected with stereo wires so left monitor through a stereo wire to left output on the mixing desk and the same for the other one........
yeh i hope thats enough info for someone to maybe shed some light on the situ....but yeh, i need help masters.......! peace.

your left input on your mixer can be used as the left channel in a stereo connection when both left and right are plugged in yet will act as a center panned mono connection (still plays thru both speakers like a microphone would) if the right input is unplugged


pretty much what you have happening is normal left channel playing center panned (both speakers) when right is not plugged in
