HOW MENNY PPROGRAM CAN I USE AT ONE TIME ?

HOW MENNY PPROGRAM CAN I USE AT ONE TIME ? AND HOW DO I DO THAT. I READ THE MANUAL BUT I STILL CANT SEEM TO UNDERSTAND HOW IT'S DONE. HERE IS WHATS HAPPENING WHEN I LOAD A PROGRAM AND THEN I RECORD A SEQUENCE I AM NOW LOOKING FOR NEW SOUNDS TO ADD TO THAT SEQ. SO I LOAD A NEW PROGRAM AND WHEN I DO THAT THE SOUND OF THE OLD PROGRAMS ARE ERASED FROM THE PADS THAT THEY WERE ASSIGNED TO AND NOW THE SEQ. SOUNDS DIFFRENT WHE IT IS PLAYED. HOW CAN I LOAD SEVERAL PROGRAMS WITHOUT CHANGING THE SOUND OF MY RECORDEDN SEQUENCE?

on my 2000 i can use 1 program at a time but i can change whateva sounds on whateva pads i want.

You can use up to 24 programs in memory at once on the XL. Any 4 of these can be assigned to DRUM holders at any one time. When you load a new program into memory, it replaces the one in the currently selected DRUM holder - but the old one is still there - just open up another DRUM and assign in the top left using the jog wheel.

Also, look up PROGRAM CHANGES in the manual - this allows you to resassign programs to DRUMS using sequencer notes.

Thanks. I myself was actually confused about multiple programs. I understand how it auto selects. But I get it now. So you are saying that I can, for example, have seq1 play 3 tracks from prog1 and 3 tracks from prog2. or, for example, have seq1 play 3 tracks from prog1 and seq2 play 3 tracks from prog2 ?

I have the classic 2k. What kind of special features does it have for programs, if any? All I've been able to do is load 2 programs, select the samples to use, delete those programs, purge the sounds, load other programs etc...

I use more than one program so i can keep my samples organized well. I have my bass sounds on one, and my drums and samples on another. All i have to do is load the same bass program for every song, then just work with the drums and samples.

If you map out the bass programs right, you can actually have the sampled notes correspond with the correct midi notes, so you can initially right your bassline with the bass program, and later convert it to a midi track and catch differant basses on your keyboard.
