Note variation slider?!

How are you supposed to install it?

you open the machine... take not of the way the previous one was installed and replace it with the new one in the same fashion.

I appreciate that. But. I wanted to know if there was any soldering that is needed because if that's the case, the one already in my machine might actually work. There isn't any soldering on it at the moment.

yes, it is supposed to be soldered in to the contact pads on bottom side of the pcb.....

very easy, just remove the pcb and solder it up

there is a slight chance somebody soldered pin sockets in, but I doubt it very very much

If the pin sockets are soldered in, which I'm nowhere near my machine to find out at the moment. Any suggestions on what to do then? Because I know the slider will not budge when I try pulling it out. By the way it's pretty awesome to get some input on this problem. It's the only thing I haven't been able to actually enjoy on my MPC2KXL.

If its soldered in and doesn't work, Replace the slide potentiometer (fader)

You can get em from digikey or mouser for a couple dollars, add shipping... All said and done $8 or so. More for shipping than the part. That's why retailers sell em for what they do, that and margins... (Though, they buy in bulk to bring cost per piece down against shipping)

I'd say just do the good retailers a favor, spend a couple dollars more, help em stay in business, and buy one from MPC Stuff or VST
