makes no sense screen

sometimes when I am trying to save a sequence on my machine, my zip drive takes forever to save the info and a strange screen appears with numbers and letters all over the place. To make this stop, I have to end up turning my MPC off, thus losing some of my sequence information. Does anyone know what causes this?? and how I may fix it or avoid it???

Check the jumper settings on the back of your ZIP drive and try another IDE cable. Sounds like the ZIP drive may be bad or going bad or either the jumpers are wrong.

I have no idea what you are talking about....JUMPER SETTINGS???
