Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000

Can somebody explain what the options are for memory on a 2000xl? Just picked one up, with a Zip drive that I need to find a chord for to use.

In the meantime I've been using Floppy Disks. Is it always a struggle with those to fit everything you want on? Or just a question of recording in Mono and trimming samples?

I've also heard about putting in some kind of Expandable Memory?

What do you think is the best option?

well your mpc is expandable to 32MB of ram (memory) how much do you currently have in the machine? anyways if memory serves me correct (no pun intended haha) the 2000(xl) uses 72 pin simms. the best thing to do is install one 16mb stick in each slot. If no memory expansion is in the machine at all, you will have the stock 2mb that is built into the motherboard... please note that when you install the extra 32 megs, it wont add onto the stock 2 megs making it 34 megs... it replaces the use of the stock 2mb entirely.

Now this memory can be obtained for extremely cheap if not free on places like craigslist. I suggest posting a wanted add there in the computer section... however you can also find it on ebay for very cheap also (maybe 10-15 bucks if not cheaper?)

to get the exact specs, check out the akaipro website in the legacy section.
