Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000

Ive recently started syncing my MPC 2000xl up to Ableton live and other DAWs. This works great except for one thing. The midi signals coming from the pads on my MPC are completely random. Am I doin something wrong or is this common?

Heres the solution I came up with, if someone can suggest an easier way please let me know!

Start a new program, I called mine A-Midi so it is always the first one on my CF card!

Shift & 6 Program
F1 for Drum 1
F1 for Assign

2nd Row down
Where it says Pad assign: Select PROGRAM not master

Where it says
Pad: A01=Note: Select 36
and go up in ascending order
A01=36 (= C1 on your midi instrument)
A02=37 (= C#1 on your midi instrument)

and so on.

Then save the program, you will have to re load it each time you want to use the mpc as a midi controller.

This is how I have worked around it, if any one has a better way please let me know!

Thanks hoops that's what the guy at akai told me to do and it works great. It's really not that much of a pain in the ass...

"On the MPC 2000XL you can change the MIDI note numbers that the pads are sending from in the Program> Drum folder> Params menu."
