Troubles Loading Some Sound Filled Diskettes...

I have recently attempted to organize sounds, including ones given by Akai, with the purchase of an MPC 2000xl, onto diskettes because I have floppy drive on my MPC. However, afer assembling a good array of diskettes, which is not a time saving task by any means, about 4 of 15 disks were unreadable by the MPC, and I do not know why. It does not recognize the correct names for the files, and measures their size at a ridiculous measure. For File Name, it looks like a bunch of symbols and garbage. I do not understand what went wrong, because I loaded the sounds the same way I loaded the ones on the disks that work, and they are all wav... I did use permanent marker on the skin of the disk to label what sounds they were. If anyone has experienced this problem, or can pinpoint what the problem is I would appreciate it, so I dont go wasting time building disks that may not work.

be careful w/ those floppies. you gotta keep them away from headphones speakers and such. the magnets in electronics could mess up the files. i have had disks get corrupted many times.
my advice to you is get a zip drive. theyre just a lot better to have. scsiforsamplers is a ebay seller you should check out. he knows what you need.
if you must use the floppies make two or three identical copies and put one at your buddies house or somewhere safe. don't put your eggs all in one basket. floppies are unreliable crap..

yea, your right, i made the mistake of trying to cut costs by not getting the zip drive... although when I installed most of the new equip in my computer I built it for the MPC with the zip drive, but money is always tight around here... but i know now that it is a necessity... but as for the disks, for some reason i went and made backups, and before I tried the backups i tried the originals again and they worked... I guess it could have been the magnets like you are talking about ... thanks for the advice, and Im going to check your boy out about the zip...
