Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000

Wassup ya'll,
I have been loving my MPC2000xl since the day I copped it from a friend of mine. Im not computer savvy, and I don't know much about the inner workings of electronics (soldering parts, upgrading memory etc.) but i am at the point where my baby is starting to show signs of aging. The lcd is starting to "pixelate", two of the pads are not working and i have to press buttons with more force than before.
I did upgrade to a flash drive a few years back, and last week, i lucked up on a damn near mint 2000 with 8 outs (i swapped the outs into the my xl), the scren is bad on the 2000, and i am glad i didnt have to pay 180 for an 8 out.
Now, to get to my point. should I get rid of th 2000, and fix up the xl? it sems fairly easy to make any repair necessary based on other forums i have seen about fixing and upgrading the MP, and the two uprgrades I made on my own. or should i hold on to the 2000? is there any advantage to having two mp's in a studio set up?
What are your thoughts?

Im new to production so take my advice with a grain of salt.

but being as though it's almost difficult to get fully working 2k's or 2kxl's I would advise you goto http://www.vstservice.com/ and send in your 2k to get it fully up and running to cushion you if your 2kxl totally craps out on you.

I say use vst because once my unit got back from iraq, 1 of my NCO's sold his broken 2k (All the pads were dead) to a battle-buddy(equal to co-worker) for under $100 bucks, he sent it off to these VST people and got it completly up and running for $100 or a lil bit over a 100 and back to him with fast service. so all together, my comrade paid about $200 for a 2k (i wasnt into production at that time so i didnt notice the deal he had scored till later lol)

Edited: spelling

There are little things you could do with 2 mpcs but there's really no reason to have 2 unless you can see creatively how you'd use them.

I'd keep the 2000xl...stick with what you know and try to get some $$ for the 2000.

i was going to send it away to get refurbished, but I don't see the need for two. The XL has some small problems and I will probably send it to them because its starting to irritate me. The 2000 is nice as hell, but im thinking im going to need that $$$$ thanks for your input.

Co-sign what others said. I'd sell the 2k and keep the xl. Really the 2 are so similar that it'd be pointless keeping both of them and the xl has a few more useful features over the 2k.
