MPC 2000 classic motherboard

Hi, i'm new in this forum, so i try to ask this question the best that i can. My floppy cable or socket is just broken (the attachment on the motherboard), so i was plunning to buy a compact flash reader to replace the floppy drive. I would like just to know what kind of sockets are mounted in the mb. Like, at the left, in the bottom there are the floppy attach and the 8 out expansion socket. In the right there are the blue socket and 2 white sockets. Those i would like to know what are. The scsiforsamplers.com solutions are the best, i think, but they are too expansive for me, so, knowing for what are planned those sockets i can try other ways to put a cf reader. it should be a 50 pin scsi on there... so you need to get a scsi card reader or a scsi zip drive. The zip drive should be cheap to get if you shop around..... get an internal one if you can or if you get the external kind with the centronics cable then make sure you dont get a parallel zip drive because they look similar.

Excuse me but wich one? The blue one i think it's for other application; the "first" white one (female) has got 44 pins, instead the second has got 60 pins. Wich one you're talking about?

But it is not SCSI connection. What kind of socket is it?

The 2000 classic has no internal SCSI port to connect an internal SCSI drive to. And AFAIK no ATAPI port as well.

Is the connection you talk about maybe the port for the optional SMPTE card or for the eb16 effects processor?

There is no internal SCSI connector inside the MPC2000 Classic. The DB25 connector that shows on the outside is soldered directly to the motherboard. If you are going to try and build your own internal drive kit, you will have to figure out how to get around that restriction.

The blue socket up at the top is for the SMPTE board option, the white one to the right of that is where the EB-16 board plugs in and the white socket below that is where the Flash ROM attaches. All three of those are specialized sockets that are meant only for their intended function. I don't believe that you'd be able to use them for anything else unless you are a real electronics genuius and have an incredible understanding of the MPC, it's firmware and schematics.

In fact i think that i will sell this mpc, alas. It's an hard decision for me because is 2 years that i make beats with it, and it is fantastic, but from some months it is giving up too much. 2 floppy drives broken, money spent on the 8 out expansion for nothing. Pad sensor changing, buttons remounting, soldered new tact. I don't know what to do. The question is that i've seen your products on the website and are real great, but are too expensive for me and i don't know if it is the case to still keep my old friend. A new one like the 1k probably would give me more solidity. It's true that also for it i need money, but as i do with the 2k, just the patience. No mpc give the "punch" to your beats, so any mp wich is solid in the process, i think gives you what you need. The feeling and the touch, will give you the punch. So this is what it is and thank you to all who answered to my question.

Selling the machine to someone who will scrap it for parts sounds like the only viable option....that things had a rough life...time to put it down.

If you are able to solder, you should easily be able to replaced the broken floppy connector. It's a standard header and shouldn't be more than a few dollars from an electronics supplier.

In the event you choose to sell, if the LCD has no lines and 8-outs you should be able to part these pieces out on eBay or Craigslist and get a nice chunk of change for a down payment on a different MPC.

oh yeah it's true... you gotta do that wrap around thing with the scsi port... like... either run a cable back into the case or solder one internally... forgot about that one.
