EB16... trying to understand the output routing options

I just bought myself the EB16 Sampleverb card and the 8-output board and have been trying to understand the routing options now that I have these two items installed. I have searched and read a few posts here regarding this issue but I can't say I fully understand. I have also read and re-read the effects section p.139 in the manual but still there is something eluding me.

As I am looking at the manual on p.139 right now, at the second graphic, the EFFECT MIXER window, I thought that I could send the R1 or R2 (the reverbs) to different outputs (1/2, 3/4, 5/6, 7/8) but it seems that only M1 or M2 can be routed to those.

I guess my first question is the following: can you send the reverbs (R1 and R2) to outputs 1/2, 3/4, 5/6, 7/8? I seem to have read somewhere somebody stating that simple reverbs R1 and R2 can only come out through the stereo outputs.

My second question is regarding the SETUP window (the Mixer setup) when you hold SHIFT and press MIXER then select DRUM 1-4 and finally SETUP: not sure I understand the first two parameters, STEREO MIX SOURCE and INDIV/FX SOURCE. You have the choice between PROGRAM and DRUM. Does this have anything to do with routing the FX to the individual outputs 1/2, 3/4, 5/6, 7/8? I am reading what the manual says but it's not registering.

1/2 is a stereo mix, as is 3/4, 5/6, 7/8. When using the mixer, you can route to individual outputs only if the sample is recorded or converted to mono.If its in stereo, it will be routed to output pairs. As far as I know, the eb-16 is fully assignable to the 8 outs, but its a pain in the ass to do it. Im still trying to get the gist of it, but it goes something like this
shift, mixer, fx send. You modify how much effect you want in the fx edit window, but you are stuck with the same settings across the board for that one effect. Meaning you cant have differently modified reverbs on channels 1 and 2, they will be modified the same, but you can tell the machine how much effect you want on each channel. Also, you don't route specific tracks to each output, you route pads(samples) hope this helps.

Yeah ok I follow you but here's what I don't get: when I choose M1 or M2 in the FX SEND window I have the option of choosing which outputs I want in the OUTPUT field in the EFFECT MIXER window (manual p139, 2nd graphic from the top.) But when I choose R1 or R2 in the FX SEND then I do not have the same option in the EFFECT MIXER window. Did you notice that?

Just to be clear I'm talking about this window:

Direct Sign: ON : Lev Pan Wid
Patch: : Dist/EQ 50 MID
MOD/ECHO>REV : Mod/Echo 50 MID 99
Output: L/R : Reverb 40 MID

Specifically the last line, the OUTPUT. This is where the assigning happen right? If I choose R1 or R2 in the FX SEND window I do not get to this same screen but instead I get this:

Why is that? This is what I am trying to understand...

to my knowledge, the assigning occurs in the fx send window, should look something like this.

this is where you assign the effects, where m1 and m2 are the multi effects you edited, and r1 and r2 refer to reverb settings, tho, I may be incorrect about this, but I think the reverb solo channels are for input, your sample source.. as for the last window, I do not know. But the fx assignment happens in the fx send window. I know your limited to 4 chained effects. Other than that, I can be of no use util I dig deeper.

Thanks, you are right about your little graphic... but I thought that window is for the FX SENDS as opposed to the physical audio routing, know what I mean? In your graphic this is where I decide what FX to give each pad (M1, M2, R1 or R2) at the top and at the bottom you decide how much of that effect is being sent... you cannot specify which output the effect is being routed here in this window.

This is what I'm trying to achieve:

- dry kick on OUTPUT 1
- dry hihat on OUTPUT 2
- wet snare on OUTPUT 3

In the FX SEND window (your little graphic) I have tried putting R1 or R2 at the top, so far so good, but how do I go about getting the reverb to come out of OUTPUT 3?
