Sampling Info

Just got my 2000xl few days ago had a question about best ways to edit my samples
as of now im sampling from my vinyls but just through a record player connected to a reciever trying to keep it budge but whats the best way to edit my samples take just what i need remove drums and shit like that i learned how to time stretch mess with the params other then that do i have to get recording software or any other ways?

Thanks yeh i got the trim screen down chopping and loop and what not but the actual sound im recording i wanna edit filter things out

oh, well in the params menu you should find a low pass filter.

anything beyond that though you will either need the EB16 effects card (the expansion card for the 2000 and 2000xl) or you maybe could get some sort of thing going before you sample the sound. Like if you had a mixer you would have some EQ knobs to tweak before sampling the sound.... personally I use a korg kaoss pad 2 because it has a phono preamp, it has a filter so I can get rid of static pretty well... it has reverbs and things too so maybe the sound might be cool with that.

the trick I been using is the onboard sampler of the KP2 (it is not like the mpc) basically I put a nice filter on the sound coming in from the record player, then sample it in the kaoss pad which is a simple "record, stop, push the pad to hear the result" it does like max 5 or 6 seconds on each of the two sample pads and you cant truncate or edit the samples... you gotta have good play/stop timing. anyways once that is done you can play those samples back through more effects.

I know you dont have a kaoss pad, but maybe hearing that might give you some ideas.
