sitting on the fence 2000 classique or 2000xl

so got till thursday to decide whether or not to swap out my 2000 classique (one line on screen included) for a 2000xl mcd. Just looking for any opinions really as every day I wake up and have a different thought myself so here's a chance for the forum fam to help! I'll be keeping my 8 outs so that's not an issue it really comes down to that fact that the xl has had zero use (apart from missing 1 pad? how that happens i have no idea!) screen is perfect and has MCD installed. My 2k just has history more than anything.

no discussion, get the XL... you got a line which is gonna get worse vs a better machine with oddly 1 single pad not working? that sounds like the sensor cable is badly connected or else they just used one pad and slammed it. either way get new sensors for under 100 bucks.

I know this thread is (sort of) closed, but I want to point out (real) disadvantages of MPC-2000 classic over XL model from my personal experience (in this order):

1. No folder support
2. You need a boot up file (OS disk) each time firing up the classic
3. LCD screen does not tilt
4. Opening MPC-2000 Classic is hustle (For XL, you can access internal board from the bottom, seems easier than Classic)
5. Installing an internal SCSI device (like CF reader) is hustle, since there is no internal SCSI port on MPC-2000 classic (I'd go to SCSI For Sampler guy for this matter)

(The lack of resampling and sample stretch functions are not really advantages, if you ask me)

Maybe there is one advantage:
Many users pointed out that Classic has a better jog dial, but I've never touched XL, so I cannot comment on that. Yes, the jog dial on classic feels good; it doesn't feel cheap, but I didn't get used to the digit wheel (outer dial) though.
But the encoder parts for the jog dial on XL is easy to find, so it is XL's advantage.

6. No "Auto Slice" on the classic
7. No Note Variation Fader usage for adjusting Samplestart/end on the classic

I dont care bout No.6 but No.7 is a nice feature I often wish I would have.

I was a long time 2K user and made the switch to the XL.But now that you can use card readers on the 2k i would much rather use it.There are pros and cons to both but alot of the features on the xl are not necessary to me./iy seems like you've made up your mind already but either way both are solid.

Peace to all the fam for the input as it has been most useful and informative. I am now the proud owner of a 2000xl MCD and i have had to sadly part with my 2k calssique but it has gone to a good home.

Slicing is a bit of a task on 2k. Also it sucks not being able to have folders...
