loading the os1.2

hi guyz, i have a few problems
just bout the mpc 2oooxl with MCD... the 1000 i owned before this was so much easier to use when sampling...

in the 2000xl, after i finish recording and go to my trim menu i get lost.... what do i do next in order to create the chops on my pads...

also when the sample is layed on the drum pad i put the sample to mono but then when i press the a pad and press another pad, the sample overlaps.... how can i get the sample of pad A to stop when i press pad B...

after i record my drum sequence how do i play and record the sample on the pads with out losing the drums that i just recorded...

also if u can advice me how to load a new os into the mpc

If you have the MCD model, you'll already be running the last os version 1.2 and should not need to upgrade. But here is the process anyhow...

It's very easy if you have an HD floppy disk and access to a PC with a floppy drive. You can also do it with a Zip drive or any SCSI drive, provided that you have a way to get the os upgrade file onto the SCSI media. Assuming that you plan to do it with a floppy disk, start by downloading the 1.2 upgrade file from the Free Downloads page of our webiste:

1.2 Upgrade Zip File

Unzip the 1.2 upgrade file - it will have a .BIN extension. Format a floppy disk on the MPC (NOT the PC), then put the MPC-formatted disk into the floppy drive on your PC and copy this .BIN file to the floppy disk. It should be the only file on the floppy disk.

Put the floppy disk back into the MPC, press "Load" and select the .BIN file. Press "Do It" and you will be asked if you want to upgrade the MPC. Answer that you do and the upgrade will begin. It will list the progress on the screen until it is finished, at which time it will ask you to press any key to reboot. Go ahead and press any key and you will now be running os 1.2.

I have heard of people saying that after applying the upgrade, they are prompted to insert a disk in order to boot. I have never had this happen to me personally but if it happens to you, just repeat the upgrade process by loading the .BIN file until you no longer get that "insert disk" message. But most times, it works the first time without any problems.
