re-formatting compactflash cards......?

i traded an mpc1000 for mpc2000xl, i bought a compact flash full of drum kits and everything. worked on the mpc1000, which it was meant for. the 2xl has a a card reader but doesnt read that the card is there. do i have to reformat it?
any help is apperciated thank you.

welll yeah i gathered that, but do you know how to go about that?

Try the big FORMAT button in the mpc (from SAVE or LOAD screen, shift+6 or shift+9).

You will erase the disk once you format it.

if you want to format it on laptop or pc do fat32 and keep in mind that all files must be under 8 letters cause mpc wont read it if they longer than 8

Also make sure the samples are 16 bit and 44.1 hz

I'm not sure if FAT32 works, but FAT aka FAT16 does.

The MPC2000XL native format is a variation of the microsofts FAT16 format. They are basicly the same. THe FAT32 is not officially supported and is a muche never method. I have not actually myself tried to use a FAT32 formated card in mine. If it works, then great, but the safe bet is to do the FAT16 format instead.
