MPC 2000 without 8-output, am I **** until I save up?

I bought a MPC 2000 and it has no 8-output card installed. I haven't **** with the machine too much because I can't save my slaps on the small ass diskettes. I don't know what the **** to do, should I just sell the beast, it does have some chunky pads thought?!? What are my options without the 8 output? Is there a better way to save sounds then on diskettes and my slow ass iomega drive? Much love to anyone who can help.

You don't have to get the output card for your MPC. I know plenty of people that don't use it. The hottest outputs on the MPC are the main outs anyways.
As far as saving goes, you can install a card reader on your 2000, but you don't have the option to create folders (the XL does). Some of the dudes I know track the beat while they make them. You have to ask someone else how to do that. I 2track everything I make and my knowledge on recording is very limited! haha!

Roxstar, I have the 8-output card and have been using it ever since I got it. I am curious about your statement regarding the main stereo outs being the hottest. Do you mean it has a few extra decibels? Is that the only difference? I remember somebody mentioning that the mains "sound better"... Beefier somehow... Any thoughts?

it does sound beefier... it mashes all the sounds together nicer then layering the tracks later... however you gotta get that mix perfect in the box or you're screwed.

Yup, the answer is yes but if you are wanting to track out it will take time depending on the track count etc.

But music should take time which is all good unless you are in a hurry to unleash a tsunami of $5 beats on soundclick
