Separate & Interchangeable Kick & Snare Programs

Not the clearest thread title.

Heres what I hope to achieve.


Looking at the columns vertically, left two for kicks and right two for snares. I want to have Kick and snare programs saved so that I can swap out either either when searching for the right sounds. I would do the same for misc percussion and all the highs etc.

I think this would help my workflow as opposed to loading all the samples and scrolling through, I could just let it roll right then and there.


If anyone could help that would be cool and if there is a better way, please let me knw. I'm less than two weeks into this MPC goodness and already clocking up too many hours. I want to get busy.

If I understand you correctly, you want to reload only the left or right hand pads from any particular program.

When you load an MPC program, it will load ALL the pads for that program, left and right.

If you go through the manual you will see what are most of the capabilities of the mpc
and what it cant do...

Yup I continue to read the manual but sometimes I need a little clarification. I mean, already, in less than two weeks I've come across some tricks that are not in the manual and was hoping that there was a way out side the fine print.

Now this is not a dig or any disrespect but I see a lot of RTM on here. Thats cool, I understand, I'm not new to this and could prob build a small house out of the munuals I've read in my time. but really, if reading the manual if the be all and end all of my problems (it must be considering the amount I've times I've seen this response in such a short time), how do peeps justify $40 for MPC tips and tricks books/DVD's?

Quite a contradiction.

I was asking for something out side the book, I could almost quote the manual and what it says on this matter.

if youre using the XL with the folder capability try making a disc of all drums in distinguished folders by type that way you can load an indivdual sound of your choice from any folder and preview it before replacing a current sound in the pgm or discarding the loaded sound.. i see what you mean and it would make things easier but theres some things a 10-13 year old machine just wont do...

and i feel you on the RTM stuff i've never read it and id like to think i know alot about mpcs despite the fact ive never even looked at it... ive owned 12 2000xl's 2 2000's and a 60 (i have a list of serials so some of you may actually own mpcs ive owned before ) and have repaired/upgraded and learned everyone without the use of the manual mostly because i never had one... bottom line though find what helps your workflow the best in a way that the machine makes sense to you...
