Tracking Out Beats

I want to take my production editing to the next level. What would I need to do in order to track out my beats into logic.
I have a midi interface how can I configure that from my mpc and into logic

midi will not get your audio into the computer.

I suggest getting an interface that has 8 line inputs, the 8 outs expansion in the xl, and some 1/4 cables to run from each output to each input.

could suggest some interfacces

i got edirol FA 101 and I am absolutely happy with it

and Motu 24 I/O .... but it is more expensive...

A cheaper solution is just any interface and record each track at a time
but it aint worth it!

I got the FA 101 as well, its sick although the sound is a little bit thin

what up. debauch is on point. an interface is what you need. most will have midi. It will be somewhat the core to your studio.

the interface i have is a presonus firepod which has 8 inputs. i got it for $300 used. i dont know really the feedback about them, but mine works just fine. im using logic and it works great.

check out these sites. they are interface comparison charts categorized by firewire and usb. if you have your eyes set on one be sure to really research it - reviews, consumer reports.

the 8-outs is ideal if you can afford it, but there is cost on both the expansion of the MPC and then an interface.

If you lay parts out in tracks on the MPC (kicks, snares, hats etc) you can just mute out tracks and then bounce in one at a time, simply using stereo outs on the MPC to stereo INs on an interface.

yeah two tracking is always an option too, good point man..

and yeah I have heard mixed reviews on presonus but most of them seem to be positive.

@mr_debauch can you explain the two tracking method in more depth. I only have a midi inferace with two inputs
and if i can do that instead of buying the 8 inputs I would definitely do that.

for sure you can

basically you do track mutes... mute every thing except one thing (ie the kicks) then record the stereo outs into the computer.

then you go back into track mutes and mute the kicks, and then unmute the snare.... record the main stereo outs of those...

then go and repeat for the bass line, the samples, the hi hats... etc...



and then in cubase or protools, or what ever you are using you put them into your sequencer and you got your song all on individual tracks ready to master and all that.

Yes indeed but it is a relatively cheap solution
