W=?

Sampling vinyl then saving to ATAPI with a ms card then Trying to move my sound files (should I do .wav or .snd?) on my laptop (windows format) then transferring over to the mpc, every time I see my .wav file with a W= in front of it. the system tells me It cannot load file, whats going on? how can I save multiple sounds and programs on one database and comfortably switch from database to mpc? Can someone Help me out? I thought my computer would be the key but its not, can I format the mpc or the computer to recognize each other?

technically the format doesnt matter, if you are just transferring.

if you want to edit on computer WAV might be less of a hassle.

make sure your filenames are never longer than 8 characters...that might help a bit.

ive noticed that simply connecting a cf card to my mac renders it useless in the mpc, i think due to the hidden files that macs place on all volumes. though this has never been the case for me with pc, and i've definitely never seen 'w='.

maybe you have a strange character encoding or something like that?

im also a little confused, vinyl -> mpc -> pc -> mpc ...is that what you are doing?

why are you going from mpc to pc and back to mpc? also what do you mean database?

thanks for the info, ya I just been sampling, chopping then program my chops, save on a 128 mb card, when its full I dump the information on my computer, then go back to it. been doing this as .wav and lately its been saying W=wav. and it will not load. I will try to shorten my sample names to 8, and if you have any other methods let me know, i figure this would work until i get more cards, thanks again

I've not found a way, because I just use a windows machine now with my cards.

It is incredibly annoying. I had to connect to a windows machine to notice the problem and to fix it.

Have you tried yourself, though? I have not tried too many times because I just immediately moved to a windows machine and have not tried a mac again. My point being, it might work for someone else.
