Sound of the MPC2000XL

Quick ? for those familiar with the 2000xl.Can anyone explain why is it that a sample sounds different when I am in the Shift\Trim page as opposed to the Main Screen. For example when I play a sampled kick that I have assigned to a pad it is lower compared to when I play that same sampled kick in the Shift\Trim screen. Its as if it drops a db or something.

Any feedback is appreciated to those that do not mind. ~1~

try to go to the program window(shift+6), then 'parameters', then press a pad with your kick. CHeck if tune isn't set lower, than 0. Maybe you have thrown any sample on this pad earlier and modified it in program mode. Even if you didn't, just raise tune value of this kick. In the end it'll sound properly

i have ALWAYS noticed that the sample is louder in the trim screen than when assigned to a pad, (velocity max, no lpf). if you turn the volume up in the trim mode same thing happens.

it has happened with my classic which i have owned for 10yrs, and my xl which i have owned for 5yrs.

it's weird. like it loses volume when used in a program. it doesn't present a problem as the volume reduction is universal, but does seem a bit of an anomaly.

some people dont seem to notice it, and i dont think anyone has ever explained it adequately.

yeah I didn't even notice it on the XL.

It is odd, I am now wondering if full level actually puts the velocity at the absolute max.

it's very noticeable to me, but as i said doesnt present a prob.

it's like assigning a sound to a programme causes the signal to be processed (?) further, but i don't see why this would cause a reduction in the output level

yeah neither do I... that is why I thought maybe it was on the midi end....
