how do u stop clipping when using mpc as a midi slave?

you kno when your using the mpc as a slave and the main sequencer loops over, the mpc sends a note off message when it loops over. is there a way to stop that? or is it my programming thats the problem?

its like this. i'll program a drum loop on my computer then i'll play a melody over this loop by sending midi through the mpc. im basically using the mpc for its quantize to make sure everything is on time. i have the mpc slaved to my cpu. when the sequencer on my computer loops over the mpc does also but the problem is on the loop im making i may want the note to carry on from the end of the loop to the begaining. i wont carry thou, at the end of the loop the mpc cuts off the note... so instead of a long note from the end of the loop to the begaining it'll be a snipped note and have silence at the begaining of the loop.

uh, your computer program should have quantize, you should record your stuff there. Or slave the computer to the mpc then this won't happen.

I think the computer sends a playstart messagem to the mpc when it loops, so that would cut off the sample, the mpc isn't doing this, the computer is telling it to.

We are all asking you what computer sequencer you are using.
Can you be clearer about what is playing from what. Is it samples on the MPC being cut off or are you sending midi notes out to external synths?

SIMPLE SOLUTION: If it is midi notes being cut off, have you actually set the length of them to overlap the end of the bar? If it is a sample being cut off, make sure that that particular sample is not set to NOTE OFF in the Voice Overlap parameter of the MPC program.

MORE COMPLEX: Does the MPC loop properly when it is playing on its own, not slaved to the computer? Are you sure the two machines are properly synced? You might just be sending a "start play" message from the computer to the MPC but they are both playing to their own internal clocks which will not be exactly the same. Look at the MIDI/SYNC screen on the MPC
Is the computer playing a loop of the same length as whatever is in the MPC? Try doubling the length of the computer loop & see if the problem happens on only every second run-through of the MPC & then let the computer play a long sequence & without any looping & see if the MPC plays fine then. If it is the computer sending some kind of note-off signal you need to work your way through the midi sync preferences in your sequencer.

this happen when you hold a note over the end of the bar into the start of the new then let it go. will make the duration of the note like 5 and play only a small slice. use the step seq to adjust. or adjust all durations under edit.
