Saving sounds only.

Hey,

I'm trying to figure out how to save the sounds i put into the mpc on to my zip disk. Everytime I think i've saved it..I turn it off only to find out when i turn it back on that my sounds are gone. I haven't sequenced anything up yet, but I've been chopping some stuff, creating programs and assigning to the pads. I need to know how to save it to the disk though, so I can work on it later.

I went into the load menu
Created a new folder
Opened that folder
Selected: Save all programs & sounds

and still nothing..


I do have the 2000XL tutorial and have been using it...but its currently on my laptop (which went out of commision the other night..i have to get a part for it)...i would try and reference that but i cant....any help would be appreciated.

Step one: save your programs.
Step two: turn off mpc.
Step three: load your program.

I think you are forgetting step 3.

ps. You will know it is working right because it takes a bit of time to do....the more samples you have the longer it will take. Sequence load/saves are almost instant, though.

Ok, i'll try that...Reason I ask is because the guy I bought this mpc from had a zip with some sounds and sequences in it, prior to me sampling in and with the zip in the drive..whenever i would turn the mpc on all his sounds would load up into the banks automatically..which is what im trying to have done here..once i get the saving thing down...im using the same disk he used (until i get another), only i formatted it from the mpc so now its blank

If you save an APS and an ALL file into the root directory of the disk, that will load whenever you turn the machine on.

I am having the same problem. I loaded a piano sound onto my MPC and assigned it to 6 of the pads, individually tuned each one so that I had a scale, and then I went to load>saved all sequences and sounds into the ROOT folder, and turned off the MPC. When I turned it back on, none of them show up. Also, when I load the file none of them show up either. What gives!?

ALSO, I was wondering how you save multiple drum banks because I want to use more sounds than just the 4 drum banks hold. I imagine that you can do this by saving different programs and such but I don't really know how to do this, because I am new to the MPC world.

Any help would be appreciated!

There's obviously a big misunderstanding going on here...which is it, load or save? Two very different functions.

Basically I can't follow what you did exactly because that doesn't make sense.

Did you save the sounds individually? Did you save an APS file? Did you also save an ALL file?

APS file = Sounds and Programs (all currently stored in memory)
ALL file = Seqeunces (all currently stored in memory)

You can also save individual programs, sounds, and sequences.

Only APS and ALL files auto-load.

To get more sounds than the 4 drum banks you create new programs, and assign those to DRUM1-4.

You are missing the concepts of some very basic functionality, all of which can be found in the manual. I suggest checking it out and getting these basics down solid. It will answer you much faster and with much less attitude than the forums will.

Well, if you go to SHIFT>LOAD you can go to the SAVE option under there by pressing F2 (which is what I was saying), so isn't that the same thing as going to SHIFT>SAVE ? I mean it's like one extra step but it's the same right? So, I don't really see how it "doesn't make any sense." At any rate, I got it to work, I think I was saving it as "ALL SEQUENCES AND SONGS" instead of "ALL PROGRAMS AND SOUNDS" so that's the problem I guess.

I do in fact, have the manual and I have read it, but the way they explain things isn't very straightforward and their wording is kind of clunky. Also, I couldn't really find the part I needed to help me in this matter, so I thought I'd just ask here and get a quick and knowledgeable answer (which I did). I don't understand why this would warrant any kind of attitude; I mean, aren't we all helping each other as artists? I'm not an idiot, so don't make me feel like one. That's what I'm trying to do, didn't mean to offend to you. Your question didn't warrant any attitude and I hope I didn't come across as giving you any. Internets is good at that misinterpretation of meaning.
I just see people get eaten alive in here all the time, so I was seriously trying to prevent that.

It's okay, I might have misinterpreted your message after all. I have another question that's really simple but I cannot for the life of me find the answer in the manual which is strange...how do I save the song as a .wav file?!

You record it into your DAW and save it as a .wav file - in other words, you can't do it inside the MPC.
