Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000

I think I am gonna go SCSI2SD and see if I can use an CF to SD card adapter as well... anyone have luck with this?

I have read many messages about these CF to SD adapters but they are always hit or miss.
CF in this day and age sucks.

Why ?
- You need to know what brand works for you
- Often your limited to small size CF cards, like 1GB
- CF cards are relatively expensive
- No Hot swapping on the 2000 series as far as i know
- CF is an obsolete standard, only used for camera's so you won't find any slots in laptops or computers so you need to work with an interface, while SD and especially mSD is found on many laptops and computers as a standard slot.

I would not even bother with CF if you can use SCSI2SD.

Was looking for this one as well (not sure if they are the same https://amigastore.eu/600-zuluscsi-v1-1 ... ter.html#/)
I can't really make sense of replacing the floppy drive (mine is broken so how do I even update the OS beforehand for example)?
Is this one from mpcstuff (https://www.mpcstuff.com/sd-card-reader ... rrencyId=4) the best option? The only thing is it will probably cost me a lot more with delivery costs and import taxes.

I'm waiting for mine to arrive, I believe that's all we need. I think the SCSI ribbon cable powers it but I/m learning about how to flash the sd.

I ended up buying a Gotek emulator. Not sure if it is the best option but so far it works!

Hello friends, I come here with a problem with a scasi2d, any help would be greatly appreciated.

This is a mpc2000 XL with a scasi2d board installed and OS 1.14 on the mpc. On the mpc side, it recognizes the scasi from 0 to 7, from the mac, it lets you write the configuration via usb to the scasi card from the scasi2d utils program, it turns on and it seems that it loads the data from the SD card. The problem is that it does not recognize any card. I have tried many combinations with two cards, one old 8 GB and the other 16 GB, modern with different partitions from 500 megabytes to 900 megabytes following a tutorial on this forum.

But there is no way for it to recognize any card from the mpc once the information is flashed to the board. However, when starting the scasi utils program with the card inserted, it seems that it does read the card.

Thank you very much for your help.

Hello Guys, here i am in the Holy Bible (for me) of threads.
So, sorry if it's a long post, but i want to check any details i know and i learned in this tread.

I have my MPC2000xl with OS 1.20 and Just floppy drive installed on It.

After Reading all the pages of this thread i think the best option for me to upgrade It to something more modern is to buy this Guy:

https://store.rabbitholecomputing.com/Z ... 1&CartID=0

But i want to be sure i'll be doing everything right, so here are my questions:

Ordering It i should as well add the 6'' IDC50F to IDC50F SCSI ribbon cable right? (I know i can buy It from other places). 90% Sure this Will fit on internal SCSI port on 2000xl.

I should add also the 3.5" plastic bracket, Is this the right size? I don't wanna it to dance whenever i move my 2000xl.

It's not necessary to have a Power cable as well, since the SCSI ribbon one should bus enough power to the driver itself, right?

To install it the process must be: taking out the floppy drive, replacing it with the ZuluSCSI and connect It via ribbon cable only, to the internal SCSI port? If so, Is It difficult or risky? I've seen the internal SCSI port Is not located in a Happy Place.

Will i Need to drill the Bracket to screw It stable inside the 2000xl case?

How i set the configurations of the drive, once it's installed? Can i connect it to my laptop (Windows) via USB and do It right away?

What kind of sd card Is most probably working on this drive from your experience?

Is all this hot-swappable?

What are the odds, if i do everything correct, all of this thing Will work without problems?

Ok, i'm done with questions, Sorry if i'm asking too much but any help Will be really appreciated. Cheers!

Oh, last One, not very important: what do you think about this external One? Overpriced?

Thank you again!

For what it's worth, I got a ZuluSCSI from sampler zone and it works great. You pay a little more at sampler zone ($10-20 more than say rabbit hole computing) but they hook you up with stuff specifically tailored to your device. Plus the mounting bracket they give you fits perfectly. I'll also say that sampler zone has responded to my emails in a very timely manner.
