Hooking up to my comp

Alright so i bought a pretty long time ago a j dilla tribute drum download thing on ebay for about 5 bux. So i was thinking that i would just buy a floppy drive for my comp because it dosent have one. But im pretty sure i culd just hook my mpc up to my computer and straight downlaod the drums onto it. Can i do this? And how?

you can't.

2000xl is an old era MPC (before usb)... you need some sort of data storage media to transport the files from PC to MPC... Zip Drive, Floppy, Card Readers...

also make sure the files are SND, PGM, WAV... or else you can corrupt a Zip disc or floppy.

you can record/sample each sound individually into the mpc then save them as a PGM file on a flippy/zip disc.

You can connect your computer soundcard to the inputs of the MPC and sample the sounds one by one while playing them on your computer's media player.
If you only need a few sounds, this will get the job done.
If you want to move a lot of sounds, floppy will work but will A) take forever
B) Be unreliable.

You'll need some proper storage eventually so get a card writer/reader for the mpc and another for the computer and save some hassle.

If you have the 2000XL Get an internal CF drive or zip.

If you have the classic 2000 you would be better with an external CF drive or zip drive.

Remember, if you shell out for a CF Drive it will last a lot longer and be more reliable than any zip drive.
