Which MPC to keep?

Hey everybody,

I have 2 mpc 200xl's, one is the OG one with the studio sticker so its got the eight outs, and I have an external scsi flash reader, not hot swappable but takes up to 16gb, also got the 32 ram upgrade.

The other is the mpc 2000xl mcd. its the blue one with the original mcd reader on it. also has a ram upgrade. I got the OG mpc brand new for 900 from some guy that had one in the box. never used. last year. the blue one however was slightly used still in almost perfect condition.

Anyway, I need some cash. I want to keep the OG one. but, I know the mcd readers on the blue one are rare. What should I do? Keep the OG one and install the mcd into it? what would I need to do? do i need to update the OS. Or should I take out the 8 outs of the OG and put them into the blue one?

Or would you keep one as back up? haha.

I would put the card reader in the OG one and get rid of the blue one w/ the scsi card reader as a bonus . Those things are hideous .

In contrast to Steele, I actually like the blue scheme. I'd keep the blue machine (newer, longer life, limited edition) with 8 outs and the original fittings. But that's just me...

Keep both, get a f-ucking job.

That's not even funny!

You pick the one you like the appearance of the most then put the 8-out, ram and MCD in that unit.
Then you sell the other with the external reader.


Or you could remove the reader from the external case and install it into the original XL.

which one DO you use more? are you using the 8outs? i find it great to have the 8outs, but some peeps dont use it. id say its a pointless if you swap it in the MCD one if you arent going to use.

i do use the 8outs so if i was in your situation id max out the MCD using parts from the OG 2000xl. swap 8outs, buttons etcc.. whatever you think that will make the MCD even better. ive messed around with my friends MCD and the overall quality is a bit firmer than the OG 2000xl (the one i have). i.e. screen, buttons, pads. also the cf reader is godsend. im still searching for something to replace my internal scsi. it just seems like akai sharpened up their game when they came out with this awesome limited edition 2000xl.

or you can sell both and get a souped up mpc3000? mv-8800?! i say that because ive only heard good things about those machines...
