mpc editor

hi iam new i got the mpc editor and i also have a usb zip but when i put the program on the zip it says can't locate samples can anyone help i have the mpc 2000 and iam using windows xp

You need to put the pgm AND the wavs/snds on the zip, in the same folder.

i use the mpc editor and once i put everything on the zip it say s loading and then its say scsi read error how do i stop pit from saying that when i put a program that' s all ready put together don't have any problems with the disc but when i create the program from mpc editor it give me the same error

Did you format your disk? I had a similar situation (I just bought my dude his MPC, his got stolen a while back) and I had to do a lot of digging to figure it out.

This is how I got mine to work.

I have two external Zip disks drives. One with the SCSI (?) connection and one with a USB. I downloaded sounds from a seller on Ebay and needed to transfer the sounds from my computer to the Zip Disks.

I downloaded the MPC editor (is there an option or other way to convert files to .snd? I read something about PGM, my dude wants to be able to assign his sounds himself)

I also downloaded a thing called Switch Sound File Converter. There are 21 different formats on this that you can convert files to.

To format your ZIP Disk what you need to do is hook up your external zip drive and go to Computers. From there you should see your ZIP drive (on my computer it was D:) Right click it and you should see an option to FORMAT. Click on that, and under FILE SYSTEM change from FAT32 to FAT. That seemed to do the trick.

When I first started trying to load the files into the MPC editor I would get an error # 11. I looked it up and it said something about re-converting my sound files. So I ran all the sound files through my converter into .wav files. THEN I loaded everything into the MPC editor.

So, now that I've answered your question, can someone answer mine? I'd like load sounds onto the ZIP disk into their own specified folders and be able to assign the sounds myself, from the MPC into the pads I would like. Is there a way to do this?

OH and most importantly make sure your sounds are saved somewhere else because once you FORMAT your disk, it will ERASE everything!!

So I think I figured out my own question. You have to get this program called Awave Studio (google it) but it costs $129.95. Guess that one will have to wait a couple of weeks. :\

They do have a free trial but I am NOT going to sit there and convert one file to SND, close the program, reopen, convert one more, repeat multiplied by 10,000. Rather pay the $130.

Ok besides the fact that I don't really understand what you are asking, I think it needs to be pointed out that:

MPCS work fine with WAVE files...you do not need to convert to SND.
You do not need AWave to put sounds on your zip disk.
You do not need Switch sound converter.
Switch Sound Converter is crappy software.

If you want sounds on your zip to use with your mpc, simply format the zip and drag the waves onto the zip, into whatever folders you want. They must be mono or stereo 16bit 44.1k PCM wave files.

You can sample into the mpc and save the sounds as .wav files too.

Edit: ......Lmao @ everyone who uses a computer to do what the mpc does on its own. Its like parking a ferrari at the grocery store to drive your groceries home, when your daily driver is a **** Bugatti.

Yeah thanks for responding. LOL I found that information out today. Jesus H. Why don't they make that information easily accessible? The reason why it didn't work because the damn files were at a higher kilohertz than the 44/16 needed. FML. So, now the files are converted to WAV, proper khz... and they work fine.

New question since you mentioned folders...

I thought the MPC 2000 doesn't recognize folders? or is that another version of the MPC?

YES I am asking stupid questions because I'm not the one actually working on this machine and it's been 10 years since my dude has either.
