OK, So this is whats happening:

I have a tone coming from my MPC 2000xl whenever I turn it on, the tone does not come up through any of the outs (headphone, L-R) nor does it come through when i am recording in. The tone is being emitted from the actual MPC its self.

SPECS

-Floppy Disk Drive (Not Working)
-8 Outs (NO)
-EB16 Effects board (YES)
-16MB Memory x 2 (32MB total, YES)
-External SCSI zip Drive (YES)

If anyone can help me with fixing that i would greatly appreciate it

if it will help any i will try to make a video and post it on Youtube so everyone can atleast hear what am talking about.

i'm banking it's the floppy drive. I got one unit with a zip drive and when you pop the disk in... the light flickers green and then there's a tone emitted while it reads the disk, it's like a 2 second tone though. If you have a disk in there it's probably just buzzing because it's trying to read the disk but it's screwed up... OR it thinks that there's a disk in there and it's reading nothing. If it's the tone I think you're talking about... it's like an old 56k modem speaker type of shrill dailing tone...? I would just pop off the bottom panel (unplug the mpc) and just disconnect the floppy drive for a shot in the dark. That'll take you 5 minutes.
