True MPC glitches

A lot of people sometimes think their MPC is glitching out, when in fact, it's a EBMAC* error. It's a complex machine and a lot of the ways it works do not mesh well with the 'drag and drop', mePod-mentality that people tend to have these days.

That being said, there are instances when the electrons just don't flow right, and the MPC does all manner of weird things.

If you have experienced a genuine glitch, feel free to report it here.
Get your armor on though, cause I imagine you will be burned at the stake if you say your MPC is 'glitching' because it's not reading your mp3 samples you downloaded off YouTube.

My most recent glitch:
Two nights ago, serious recording session with keyboardist, and we get to a point where he's trying to record some complex sequences into the MPC so I can have them for synths later. He plays a 4 bar line, but then decides that bars 3 and 4 are the only good takes, and so we should copy 3+4 in place of 1+2.
Easy enough, right? Everyone knows how to do this (MANUALS, KIDS).
So i go to the edit menu, select COPY, choose bars 3-5, method is REPLACE, set start to 1, hit do it....
entire track is erased.
Ok, did I do it wrong? 3-5...right (meaning start of bar 3 to start of bar 5...so full bars 3 and 4)?
Undo button. Sequence is there.
Try it again, edit, copy replace 3-5 to same track starting at 1.....do it.....track is erased.
OK, weird, UNDO, try again, this time to a new track...blah blah...DO IT, new track has first note from previous sequence (NOT the bars i was copying...and only first note)...but that's it.
Try again.
and again.
and again! in all manner of different ways....to new sequences, new tracks....nothing. It's like the copy function is dead-set on erasing my track.

Save current sequences.
Reboot machine.
Load up samples. Load up sequences.
Perform edit......success.

That's a glitch if I ever seen one.

I've got better audio glitches and I'll try to post those up in here if I can find the recordings.

Metronome sound is glitched on some days

When you turn it on the tempo is set wierd and other settings that I can't remember are set to odd parameters like the bars and time sig...usually a INT system or what ever it's called does the job

Sometimes going from sequence to sample new sound takes time...some times it can just crash the ****

Tune 16 Levels...some times you can't change the setting to "tune" only velocity and the other one...other times it don't want to go any lower than pad 9 or 10 of the orig sample key

Some times it likes to crash out the blue with a load of ish on the screen

A load of other incidents I can't remember which made me want to throw bricks at it

The MPC-60 NEVER did any of this shi*...I love the XL but honestly...it's OS is rather annoying cos I can never rely on it...

Yea, I get this too, and I'm wondering if it's not somehow tied to original sample tune or pad placement, even. Have not dove too deep into that one.

that sounds ****... I never had those (and that many) problems with my XL... my 60 was starting to do crazy shit like jumbled writing on the screen... locking up, not really doing what it was supposed to.... but then I opened her up and reseated every removable component and chip etc... it entirely fixed the issue.

she is an older 2.12os but she is in brand new condition pretty much. it actually looks like even I never use it... let alone being 20 years old

really? what gives you that idea? most of my production is entirely produced in software, how about yours? Or, you just got that 2000xl avatar but dont actually produce anything? Old gear like the 60, new gear like the latest VST... I use it all.

Turning the MPC on/off usually fixes that fault and other wierd glitches...save the song you are working on then turn the MPC off/on load the project again and you can use the 16 Levels!

I re-seated the ram reacently...think it's been behaving a bit better but not sure, not used it much of late as I haven't had the time.
