MPC 2k freezed in Save screen

Hello everyone.

I´m pretty new to this Forum so i apologize if this has been covered before:

My MPC 2000 (OS 1.72) just freezed while i was trying to save my work. It locked up while asking "File name exists! Replace or Rename?", guess right, i had already been saving a copy of that program before...

While i can still trigger the pads i was able to record all the samples to my computer, however i was doing very much 'note variation' stuff with the sequencer so having the rough samples is not a good backup.

However the sequencer is not accessable as long as that save-screen is open. It has been hooked up as a slave to Logic but feeding the midi clock doesn´t bring the MPC back to play mode anymore.

Does anyone know a way to recover the machine from meditation? I´m shure i won´t get the whole stuff redone and i didn´t record the mix laying on my desk yet (dammit!).
I´m gonna leave my MPC freezed now and hope for somebody knowing a trick...

While i´ve been an intensive MPC user for years now it never happened to me before the machine freezed while saving.

man i have a 2000 also. the couple times its froze on me, all i could do is shut it off, and start again. i wish i knew what to do

Yeah... seems like all the work is gone now. Some friends told me about sometimes it recovers after a while but not this time; pressing some buttons like somebody suggested in an earlier thread didn´t work either.

@dstruction: I´m just curious what kind of freezes you´re talking about. My MPC usually doesn´t crash randomly - i know some reproducable bugs (like if you were recording a track with 'note variation' [i.g. pitch] and then overdubbing 16t or 32t note-repeat on the same key & track -> sets my machine to nirvana playing all the sample data out of its memory pitched down, i think much more than -200. nice sounds btw )

Well, now i´m gonna reset the crashed bastard and program everything again

well sometimes when im loading or saving something from my external zip, itll totally freeze up. Most of the time, ejecting the zip disk and unplugging the drive then hitting main screen helps. But not always.

What were you saving to? Some SCSI devices go to 'sleep' and the MPC may not 'wake' then up. I usually hit the LOAD first to wake the drive, then go to SAVE.

I would not recomment to unplug any drive from the MPC while turned on, you might blow up your SCSI fuse like that.
