Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000

Hey all,

I had a good look before posting so hopefully I'm not asking a question that has been answered before.

I just received the software update floppy from mpcstuff, i followed their enclosed instructions for installation and now i have an issue. After updating i reset the mpc as advised and now it prompts for the disk to be inserted. When inserted it says it is loading the .bin file, then the main screen comes up with the "wait" dialog box over the top. Once it loads up the main screen disappears and I'm just left with a whole lot of code which can be browsed through with the wheel and there are a bunch of selectable options ( seq, run, step, mem, header, event, bar etc) that when hit just take me to different parts of the code. There doesn't seem to be any way to get back to the main screen, or do anything really at all.

I may be retarded and have done something wrong in the installation process but as far as i can tell i followed the instructions correctly.

Any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated.

cheers

I think I know what the problem is - what os version were you at before you installed 1.2? I'm going to guess that it was not 1.14 but a lower version.

The problem is (and this is not really documented very well) you must be at 1.14 in order to successfully install 1.2. if you install 1.2 from an earlier version, say 1.12, you will get that "insert MPC disk" message forever. I don't know why - I just know that is what happens.

It is easy to fix - install 1.14, then 1.2 and that will sove the problem. MPCStuff.com should be able to provide 1.14 for you - if not, I can. Send me a PM.
