Will a 2000 screen work for 2000xl? Please help asap!

I saw on mpcstuff.com that they have a replacement screen that works only for the mpc2000 but not for the XL because the ribbon is too short...but the ones for the XL work for both. Is that the case or is it just the deal with the one they have on there? My question is can i harvest a new screen from an MPC2000 to use as a replacement for an MPC2000XL??

the screens are identical but the one on the XL has a longer ribbon cable as you said. the classic 2000 is too short but will work... you would need to probably frankenstein it on and maybe it wont reach the lcd frame area inside the XL.... the XL screen is fine on the classic though.
