Need help Tracking out...

I have a Mpc2000xl with no 8 outputs.
so i wanna use the 2 outputs to track out track by track no biggie.
I have a mini mbox I connect to the inputs & it work I can see it on my protools 8!
i actual record them in the problem now is the track dont sync up ,... like I can tell my snare is a few micro seconds faster then usual...n ect

so i wanna use midi.. so i can sync mpc with protools how would i do this?

you need to set one device up to 'send midi clock' and you need to set the other device to 'receive midi clock'. when you hit 'play' on the one which is sending midi clock, the other one will begin to play at the same time and with the same tempo.

i don't know how to do it exactly in protools, but there are likely a lot of guides to do it.
on the mpc it is simple. go into the midi menu, and choose which port to receive midi sync on. set it to midi clock.

one other way to line up your tracks WITHOUT using midi, is to record a 'pop' at the beginning of each track, maybe 1 bar before the beat starts. then, once you record each track, you can line up these 'pops' so all your tracks are in sync. also, you might like the effect of shifting your tracks a little bit so don't get too caught up on making it perfectly in sync, unless you are sure you want to do that.
some people use a snare or clap or snap sound for the 'pop' effect.

and keep looking in your protools or mpc manual, it is all explained in detail there.

yes one of those midi adapters will work.

I cant get it to sync up! is their anybody who knows how to do it?

& i tried the pop in the start & it helped a bit but.. it not sounding the way i wanted .. or the way i layer it on mpc.

1st - you need a midi cable going IN (port 1) your akai and then to OUT of your Mbox

On your MPC:

-Shift+9>MIDI/SYNC
-Left side of screen is Sync In Port 1. Where it says MODE (default OFF) scroll to the right once for MIDI CLOCK
-Main Screen

I couldnt tell you how set up midi/sync in PT. Check out the vid. Even though its an MPC 1000 w/6 outs looks like the same procedure. Remember you must have your tempos match on MPC and Pro Tools.

You should know it works once you hit the space bar/play in Pro Tools your Akai's tempo will switch to (ext) and will start as well.

EDIT: just saw your other Q. you CAN use midi usb. i have an M-audio Uno midi interface 1x1 which i used solely for midi sync. got it for $25 at radioshack. heres a link to it. http://www.m-audio.com/products/en_au/Uno.html

also if youre tracking out without 8outs youre doing one track at a time. if panning 2 at a time. so be sure to start each track Exactly where you did the previous one. if you dont that MPC swing/swag will be tarnished and they just wont line up.

It's plug in and play. You'll connect it to your pc, check it in the midi mtc screen like in the video above. Set up your MPC as explained above. Click on the arrow at top right corner on pt, click show all and transport expanded. Click the generate MTC cable, make sure your mpc is configured, has same tempo as PT, and you have a midi out cable going from midi interface to mpc midi in. Everything should be good after that. It's fairly simple.
