Trouble loading wav. files

I just got a CF Card Reader with a CF card also. It came with pre loaded drums. I installed the drive correctly and was able to read the card with all the drums loaded on it. I transferred the cards contents onto my imac and put them into a file of theyre own. I noticed they were wav. samples and apparently must have been 44100 sample rate otherwise they would not work on the MPC,as i have read about. So now the problem.

I have a bunch of samples on my Imac HD and i use audacity to convert them into 44100 sample rate. I import the audio file to convert using Audacity and then export it to my desktop on the Imac. I load it onto the CF Card thats plugged into the CF Card reader on the Imac then eject the Card. I then power the MPC on with the Card already inserted and it recognizes the card and the Atapi Drive. Then i try to load the samples i have on the card and it gives me an Error

File not found!!/Unknown file type

It does this even with the preloaded drums that used to load correctly but now do not..?

Macs add a bunch of hidden files that totally screw with the MPC.

Read this thread, and maybe look for a program called 'Clean up smb mess'.

I assume your MPC is 2000XL. If you're using 2000 classic , make sure to use the last OS release for 2000 classic. Early 2000 classic OS does not read and write WAV files.

For the WAV file, make sure that there is no images (Jpeg) embed on your WAV files' info tags. I had issue with WAV files from Mac / PC, and I found out that those WAV files had images embedded. Clear tags on your WAV files before importing to MPC.
Also make sure that WAVs are in 16 bit rate, not 24 bit.

I appreciate the input on all the replys. I have tried these things and im now noticing when i load the CF card into the MPC 2KXL the folder my drums is in has been renamed..? I named it Drums ,it was renamed

when i loaded the CF into the MPC..? This seems weird...The guy i bought the drive and card from says he has never seen this..? Just to clear everything up, there is absolutely no PC involved only Imac with OSX 10.6.7. Audacity did not provide any different results..? I will double check for jpeg or images but Im pretty sure there is not

Other thing, do name file longer than 8 chars before extension name (.WAV, .ALL, etc.).

for instance,
filename.snd

is OK, but
filename01.snd
is no good, because with computer (Mac, Windows, Linux) won't be able to distinguish filename.snd and filename01.snd, therefore, you cannot copy those files to your computer.

From my experience, those leads to CF card unreadable from your MPC. It happened to me.

I use mac too, I use SoundStudio instead of Audacity (good app, just that I don't like the GUI.) To get rid of Tags, just copy the waveform, open new one, then paste to new one, save as WAV, 16 bit 44KHz, to be whether the new one can be opened with your MPC.

Could it be that audacity isnt working right when i convert the samples? Could soundstudio be the solution? I think were gonna need LaMpDoG for this one...Hes the master of MPC!

I will also add that when in the Shift 3 menu , i hit format and the card is formatted within seconds,but then after noticing up on top left where "Device" is at it says Atapi
Underneath it says "Vender"=aSDnsi k it looks to be that it is trying to spell out SanDisk(which is the type of CF card i have)Its misspelled though..?

Product=DSFC-H00G2 on the other side of the screen it says Ver .= HD 2000M

It is possible that your MPC doesn't like the CF card you are using. MPC-2000XL is VERY picky on CF card. As far as I know, Sandisk brand CF cards work well with XL (cheap generic CF cards don't work with XL, speaking from my experience), but I wouldn't rule out the possibility of your Sandisk CF card incompatible.

Its really weird that it worked when i first got it ....,until i reformatted the cf card..?

I dont think so,maybe i should?

If you already have your files backed up, reformat the cf card in the MPC.
When then adding files to it with your mac, it shouldn't create those hidden system files.
At least my mac doesn't..

44.1Khz - 16bits????
