How to install SMPTE board? And slider

Hello, I've bought the SMPTE board and the slider and I was wondering if anyone can point me out how to install them

I think the slider needs to be soldered after having removed the main board, while I've no clue about the SMPTE

SMPTE has a slot on the mother board, it is like installing a PC board on your motherboard PC... just open your MPC, take out the control board and you are going to see the slot... if you "can't" find where in the board is the slot just see the back of your MPC and read in there...

The SMPTE 'board' is just a tiny chip that you place in the proper spot.
Here is a picture of the SMPTE chip, sitting on the box, and if you look to the right of it, you will see the small square will it will eventually fit.

Here is the chip installed:

You install the SPMTE chip by taking off the bottom of the MPC.

You install the slider by taking off the top of the MPC.

I think personally all that soldersucking is a bit unnecessary (its a really easy fix), but this guide is very very good and has lots of pictures.
And let me tell you, removing solder really really sucks.

SMPTE in a 2K classic is actually a board

Yeah I noticed that bro, but cool because I also learned that the 2K XL only needs a chip... I thought that both use the same card.

what I got from MPC stuff is the board you can see in the first picture nogginj has posted I thought that was enough to use SMPTE I didn't know there was also a chip

so can't I use SMPTE with just that board?

No bro, the board is for the 2K classic the chip is for the XL, which one do you have? if you have the XL and you bought the card then you have a problem there...

I have the XL but I bought it in the MPC 2000xl section of MPCstuff!

and it is called MPC 2000XL SMPTE PCB BOARD!!

Should I be angry with MPC stuff?

I didn't know anything about it, I just thought "why don't you try to sync it using SMPTE" and the price was good so I thought... ok buy it (in a bigger order with pad sensors, slider, pads, etc, because I'm not in US and shipping costs is a bit high)

Ok bro, that's the physical board, but notice that the 2K classic has the board and included in the board is the chip... check the pic that I posted before... now you have the physical board for your XL but do you have the chip that nogginj show us on pics?

If you have an XL, then all you need is the chip.

You goofed up, don't be mad at MPCStuff. It's ok, it happens.

Look on the back of your XL....do you already have the 1/4" jacks labeled "SMPTE"?

If so, then yea, you bought what you already had. I think XL's came with the SMPTE ports already installed, just not the chip. That's why you only need the chip. The part you bought must be a replacement.

I'm not sure if the chip you linked is the right one, let us know. MPC Stuff doesn't seem to have the SMPTE chip in stock anymore.
